FACTOR ANALYSIS OF THE POLYMER MARKET
Abstract
This article presents a factor analysis of the Russian polymer market using the example of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), one of the key materials in the chemical industry. The purpose of the study is to identify the factors influencing the volume of PVC production in Russia, as well as to create a predictive model for assessing market dynamics in the future. Research on industry markets is conducted by researchers. However, to a greater extent, these studies are conducted by specialized research companies and remain closed for mass use. Open research on industrial chemical markets is more technically oriented, such as the description of production technologies related to methods for modifying polymer properties, and is not aimed at economic analysis and market forecasting. At the same time, the economic analysis of the market, including the issues of forecasting demand, and the impact of macroeconomic factors are poorly represented in the research. This leads to the fact that market participants and market analysts do not have enough data necessary to make informed calculations on market forecasting and strategic decision-making. The research used correlation and regression analysis methods, which revealed the main determinants of the PVC market, including the volume of polymer consumption, fluctuations in the ruble against the US dollar, as well as the dynamics of prices for raw materials. The constructed forecasting model demonstrates high accuracy in predicting production volumes, which contributes to more effective planning of strategies in the polymer market, including in the framework of investment decisions and modernization of production facilities.
