Abstract

In the context of increasing changes in both the external and internal environment of an organization, there is an increasing interest in conducting scientific and practical research in the field of managing the organization’s activities. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the problems and methods of managing the factors of the external environment of the organization in relation to modern conditions. A set of interrelated tasks is solved to achieve this goal, including the following: the activities of large organizations are studied, including those of transnational corporations; the genesis and stages of development of transnational companies’ activities are considered; an analytical study of the scale and efficiency of the activities of individual largest companies in the world (based on the Fortune Global 500 and Forbes 2000 ratings) is made; a description of the directions and methods of managing individual factors in the distant environment of organizations is presented, and the advantages and disadvantages of the presence of transnational capital in individual states are outlined. The scientific novelty of the study is due to the formation of a theoretical and methodological justification for the problems of managing individual factors of the external environment of the organization in modern conditions. Based on the result of the analytical study, the following fundamental conclusions were drawn: in modern conditions, Russian corporations face a number of problems in managing business development, among which a special place is occupied by such problems as insufficient competitiveness of products produced by Russian enterprises, both in the domestic and foreign markets; low level of their innovation activity. These problems are largely determined by the technological dependence of Russian corporations on Western technologies, the use of which is limited by current international economic restrictions (sanctions), as well as shortage of various types of resources, including the difficulty attracting borrowed capital, its high cost, which is predetermined by high inflation rates, and the instability of the economic situation in general.

Keywords: distant environment, scale of activity, transnational corporation, management of the organization’s activity, environmental factors, performance efficiency
