Abstract

Professional choice in modern society is the basis for the quality training of the employees, competitive workers, and the successful development of the economics of countries and regions. However, at present it is carried out in conditions of high dynamism of economic processes, which complicates its achievement. Therefore, well-organized career guidance is needed to help various groups of the population in choosing the profession. At the same time, much attention should be paid to the study of the economic factors of professional choice. The purpose of the research is to study the main economic factors, first of all, the characteristics of the modern labor market that affect the professional choice of the population of Tyumen region. The article analyzes the main indicators of the labor market of the region (the relevance for the types of economic activity, professions, the level of wages in vacancies); the results of a survey of the region's population concerning the economic factors of professional choice. The research was carried out by collecting and statistical analysis of secondary data in the state of the labor market and forecast of its development in the region, as well as primary data obtained during the survey of residents. As a result of the analysis of secondary information on the state of the labor market, the following data were determined: the most and the least demanded types of economic activity, professions, the lowest and the highest average wages for vacancies declared by employers, the growth rate and increasing in the need for workers in various types of activities in the last months of 2022 compared to 2021. It was found that the need for workers until 2025 in the region will annually decrease, it is expected to be the highest in the field of construction, and the lowest in the healthcare and social services. As a result of a survey of the population, it was concluded that: economic factors are important in the implementation of a professional choice, but are not well known to the population; assessment of the personal competitiveness, job satisfaction is mostly positive; a sufficiently high proportion of those thinking about changing their profession indicates that there are problems with their choice; the main reason for changing professions is the insufficient level of wages. Information regarding the situation in the labor market of the region and other economic factors, competently and timely communicated to the addressee, will improve the results of career guidance and correctly determine the professional choice, both for schoolchildren and the adult population.
