EDITOR-IN-CHIEF’S ARTICLE. ON THE PRESENTATION OF THE COLLECTIVE MONOGRAPH “REGIONAL ECONOMY: STRATEGIC DECISIONS, DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT”
Abstract
On June 24, 2025, the presentation of the monograph “Regional Economy: Strategic Decisions, Development and Management” took place in Veliky Novgorod.
The Minister of Investment Policy Nosachev D.L. delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the scientific event. Denis Leonidovich noted that the monograph was written by economists of our university in collaboration with colleagues from the Baltic Federal University, universities of Moscow and Siberia. The book was published by the largest publishing house of business literature in the country – "INFRA-M" (Moscow). Nosachev D.L. emphasized that the monograph is the result of the collective work of experienced scientists, teachers and business practitioners with extensive experience in research, educational and practical economic and managerial work. Denis Leonidovich noted that the monograph examines a wide range of issues of regional economy: strategic management of regional projects and risks, sustainable development and economic security of regions, the impact of innovation and demographic processes on regional development, the role of clusters, agglomerations and measures to support entrepreneurship in regional socio-economic development.
Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of the Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University A.B. Efremenkov pointed out that the monograph edited by Doctors of Economics O.P. Ivanova, V.M. Tumin and Candidate of Economics V.A. Trifonov is a comprehensive analysis of strategic management issues in the regional economy. Andrei Borisovich believes that economists substantiate the demand for project management in the regional economy at a high theoretical and methodological level, and emphasize the need for a wider use of project methodology in the processes of making management decisions.
Head of the Center for Sustainable Development and Environmental Health of the Russian Academy of Sciences, co-chairman of the Consortium and the Moscow Club for Sustainable Development, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.M. Zakharov emphasized that the book pays special attention to issues of sustainable development of regions in his speech. According to V.M. Zakharov, the authors reasonably consider territories as independent economic entities capable of influencing production, environmental and socio-economic policies. The work analyzes the impact of innovation and demographic processes on regional development, as well as the role of clusters, agglomerations and measures to support entrepreneurship in regional socio-economic development.
Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance at MGIMO, Doctor of Economics, Professor Yu.A. Levin emphasized the importance of the authors' consideration of the humanitarian component in regional development, including the role of culture and education. According to Yuri Anatolyevich, the monograph substantiates the need to consolidate the efforts of all interested parties to ensure sustainable development.
The professor of the Department of Economics and Management of Enterprises and Industrial Complexes, Doctor of Economics, Professor V.A. Balukova noted in her review that “the book is dedicated to the widest range of issues of regional economy and crowns the efforts of the team of authors (17 people) to study various vectors of regional development in the context of strategic tasks of increasing the country's innovative potential. It can be called an encyclopedia of modern economic activity of territories and regions, so multifaceted are the spheres of intersection of sustainable economic development, improvement of management techniques, regional support of business entities, problems of demography, ecology and many others presented in it. In this regard, the subject matter of the monograph is undoubtedly relevant. Each of the sections presented in the monograph symbolizes the materials of research on strategic management of regional projects and risks; sustainable development and economic security of regions; the impact of innovation and demographic processes on regional development; problems of clustering, agglomeration and measures to support entrepreneurship in regional socio-economic development”.
