FUNCTIONAL SELF-DIAGNOSIS OF AN ENTREPRENEUR'S PERSONAL COMPETITIVENESS
Abstract
The relevance of this study stems from the absence, in both domestic and international literature, of applied instruments that operationalize an entrepreneur’s personal competitiveness (EPC) through measurable functional variables. The aim of this paper is to develop and pilot-test a self-diagnostic tool for EPC based on the assessment of 29 entrepreneurial functions and their prioritization via ABC analysis. The methodological framework integrates the functional approach to entrepreneurship, competency-based approach, entrepreneurial self-efficacy theory, and the ABC-analysis. The article reviews existing interpretations of EPC and proposes advancing them through a functional lens tailored to specific entrepreneurial entities. The empirical basis is a pilot case study of an active small business, involving two mentors and one key employee (modified 360-degree methodology). The pilot results confirm all research hypotheses: the tool identifies functional deficits in EPC and enables the formation of an individualized entrepreneur development trajectory. Critical deficits are found concentrated in the operational‑marketing and financial‑analytical blocks. The proposed integral function significance index provides hierarchical ranking of deficits according to their impact on profit and business sustainability. This study thus determines specific, quantitatively described functional variables that complement the construct of EPC, which is of particular research and scientific interest. The proposed analytical tool is applicable in educational, consulting, and mentoring practice.
